I saw exhibition of Repin there. Repin is a Russian painter in the 19th century. He painted many historical pictures, genre pictures, portraits etc from a realistic viewpoint. When I saw his works in this exhibition, I was very impressed. Because people and things painted there looked as if be living!

I recommend this museum to you. Because we can encounter various wounderful artworks in various exhibition of this museum. In addition, because of this museum is near from Shibuya station, we can visit there easy.
I like visiting museum. Especially I hope to see Repin's actual works again!
Kanae,
ReplyDeleteThis is Ms. MacGregor. Thank you for your nice blog! Do you think Repin is famous or unknown? indeed, his paintings are very realistic and the contrast between light and dark is very sharp. Does he paint nature paintings too? I like The Museum in Bunkamura too. It is a big space and so it is comfortable to move around and see the works in peace.
Ms. MacGregor,
ReplyDeleteThis is Kanae. Thank you for your comment. I think Repin is unknown in Japan. Because his works are almost in Russia usually, Japanese can't see these easily.
Also he painted nature paintings like "cabbages." I like this painting too.
